D.O. MORE FORT LAUDERDALE
Organizations: Tools for School Low Income K-5, The Lucy Project and One Simple Wish
D.O. More Fort Lauderdale was founded by local school teachers in the South Florida area in 2022. These teachers have been busy! Their first launch was towards their "Tools for School" project. D.O. More Fort Lauderdale partnered with local teachers to give students supplies for their upcoming school year. With your help, we raised $1,779 worth of supplies for a low income elementary school in Broward County, FL.
We created tools for school in a bag to give our teachers the supplies they need for their first week back in their classrooms. Each of our 30 bags consisted of 30 erasers, 4 boxes of colored pencils, 4 boxes of markers, 48 pencils pack, 2 packs of copy paper, colored construction paper pack, 8 glue sticks, expo markers and eraser pack, and 4 packs of line paper. Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school volunteers put together the bags and helped bring them to the elementary school to pass out to the teachers. They were excited and enjoyed giving back!
October was Dyslexia awareness month! D.O. More Fort Lauderdale paired up with “The Lucy Project” in Miami-Dade FL. The Lucy Project works to offer free in-school programs and affordable out-of-school remediation with highly trained educators. Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School helped promote and together we raised $500 to make literacy accessible to those that need it most! All proceeds went directly to one-on-one intervention tutoring and effective reading remediation in elementary schools with trained specialists. Thank you to everyone for your support on this great cause and hopefully this helps students become proficient readers before they leave 3rd grade.
One Simple Wish is an incredible organization that we plan to work with more in the near future. We were able to make one child's Christmas wish come true in 2022. We plan to make many more come true soon! Thank you for helping us D.O. more!
